Director of Investments and Partnerships
Maury grew up in Pullman, where he graduated from Washington State University with a degree in music. After a year of playing French horn professionally with the Boise Philharmonic, he moved to California for seminary. There, he started River Valley Church, which he led for over 20 years. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in New Testament and to serve on the faculty of Gateway Seminary. He is fluent in Biblical Greek.
As a pastor, Maury led his church to develop a recovery program in which he actively participated. No stranger to his own weakness, he loves to listen to people’s stories and reflect with them about new possibilities. A lifelong backpacker and nature lover, Maury sometimes disappears into the wilderness for days. His passion for nature and people come together beautifully in his role at Recovery Beyond.
He and his wife, Julie, have been married for 30 years and have three grown children.
